Marketing Team Experience
Kaley's Story
"My name is Kaley Plaxton and I am a Marketing Communication Specialist for Taylor Vein Solutions. When looking for a new job last year I hoped to find an opportunity that would allow me to grow as a young professional in my field, but also as a young adult in determining what my next steps out of college might be. I wanted to find a position where I felt comfortable in the sense that it was the right direction for me, but also uncomfortable in that I wanted to push myself to experience something new. I feel so lucky to have been selected as a member of the clinic’s first marketing team, and I want to share a bit about my experience.
In June 2020, I made it my job to share TVS’s story and to portray how they make every patient part of their family. I have been given the opportunity to suggest new ideas constantly, and I have the ability to guide the direction of future initiatives. Working with TVS has been an incredible opportunity for me to support a mission larger than myself, while at the same time developing my personal skills. Connecting to this team has inspired me to push myself, and connecting to patients has motivated me to never stop pursuing health and happiness.
One particularly meaningful thing that helped me achieve my objectives is the compassion of this organization. Not only do I have structure in my responsibilities and flexibility in my schedule, but I also have support in my personal life and future endeavors. The staff is genuine and my management is respectful and caring. Since starting, our team of four has had weekly check-ins for our personal health as well as to maintain productivity. Making connections with people who are exploring similar lifestyle aspects and who have many shared interests has been so fun. I have never had a job where I felt welcomed and supported by a work community. We are all encouraging and assist each other with tasks whenever needed.
In the past, I never paid much attention to my work once it was done. I used to do tasks fast to check them off my to-do list, but now I take more time to finish projects so I am proud of everything I create. This work taught me the importance of reflection, timing, organization, and preparation. Looking back on this position thus far, I wouldn’t change a thing. The nights spent in meetings rather than relaxing helped me to find inspiration and motivation in my work. Edits allowed me to grow curious in my writing again. The lack of face-to-face interaction forced me to use social platforms as a tool of connection. Even the hurdles I faced with understanding the healthcare industry and communicating well, helped me understand how valuable connecting and educating is. It’s extremely rare to find a job that pushes you in new directions.
In all of my previous places of work I struggled to feel as though I made a difference. TVS is different though. I feel included in every step of the process and I am treated as an equal. I am encouraged to take risks and create change. On a more personal level, I have learned to find inspiration in the work of others, and to take pride in my own accomplishments. With my designs and written content under critique I have gotten well-adjusted to taking suggestions and using them to improve. I have learned to take chances in the content I produce to identify the most suitable direction. Working from my bedroom may not have been my favorite thing, but the endless coffee, comfy clothes, incredible team, and the drastic growth for TVS have definitely made the past year an experience to remember. I am so grateful to the Ramaswami family and the TVS staff for welcoming me to their team."
Thank you always,
Kaley Plaxton
